Tennis get their Acton together!

By September 27, 2022October 14th, 2022No Comments

Tennis signed off their summer season with a prestige regional trophy, a Premier Division win for the men’s teams and a hugely increased entry in the Club Championships.

After losing out in the final for the last two seasons, the Club finally got its hands on the Acton Cup – the knock-out trophy fought over throughout the season by all 32 clubs in the North East Cheshire League and involving men’s and ladies singles, doubles and mixed doubles.

The winning line-up (above) included  L-R Jonny Kinsella, Sarah-Kate O’Grady, Jason Tonge, Dani Pym, Greg Caterer, Louise Holtum, Jorge Abarca Montero and Amy Ellis.

Meanwhile the Men’s 1st team won the Premier Division title, the Men’s 5th team were runners-up in their division and all the teams finished at least halfway or better.

And in a final summer flourish, the Club Championship entry was 30 percent up on 2022 with 120 players plus a rodeo bull and a hog (that got roasted). Winners were: Adebola Adegbite (Ladies Singles); Greg Caterer (Mens Singles); Lisa Burtonwood and Megan Pollick (Ladies Doubles); Jorge Abarca Montero and Ben Loh (Mens Doubles); Greg Caterer and Corine Balaban (Mixed Doubles); Dan Hopkins(Mens Over 45s) and the Rodeo Bull.
